On gameday 2 of the "Jugendaufbauliga Rheinland-Pfalz" the Trier Wolverines met the Montabaur Fighting Farmers.

The Wolverines had to deal with the losses of Defensecaptain Vadim Adam and Defensecoordinator Phillip Schneider.

After they won the coin toss and chose the second half option, which would later show it's use, the Defense was able to stop the first Farmers drive after 4 downs.

The Offense of the Wolverines afterwards started the game perfectly. In just their first drive was Jason "The Train" Midget who ran for a TD. It was him who also scored the 2-Point Conversion afterwards. The Wolverines had an early lead 00:08.
The second drive of the farmers didn't last any longer than the first. Wideout Patrick Bründel(Farmers) caught the ball in traffic thrown by QB Eric Assman (Farmers), but Martin Karling was able to hit him hard and force a fumble which Jasn Midgett was able to recover and bring back the ball to the Wolverines.

As the first this second offensive drive was finished with a TD. This time it was Runningback Aj Aliyev, who carried the ball for 16 yards into the endzone. He as Midgett scored the following 2-Point conversion on his own what lifted the score to 0:16.

But the Wolverines started the second Quarter unconcentrated. Nor offense nor defense worked the way they should have. Montabaur score 13 points and made it a ball game with a score of 13:16.

But at the end of the first half the Wolverines regained their strength and it was SS Rene Peters who was able to intercept a pass and brought the Offense back in the field. But they went 3 and out. Again it was Peters who intercepted QB Eric Assman on their next drive but again the offense could not turn that into points. But the farmers were ready for whatever the Wolverines offense tried.

Yard after Yard the farmers came closer to the Wolverines-endzone to score before the halftime. But again the Wolverines D was able to intercept the ball and this time it was Lb/TE Timo Bätz who lead the Wolverines into halftime with their close lead.
Now it was the time for the second half option to be the right choice. After there were slight changes in the Offense strategy the offense started to throw the Ball. It was TE timo Bätz who caught 4 Balls in a row (total of 6 catches)and was the only Wolverines receiver to catch a ball.

The passing game gave the Wolves good field position and it was once again AJ who carried the ball into the endzone for a TD.
The Scoreboard now showed a 13:22 Wolverines.

The changes in the defense were successfull too as they were able to keep the farmers short and make them punt the ball.

A blocked punt by DE/G Martin Charles, flipped the ball in the hands of LB Moritz Milde who carried the ball in the Endzone .The Wolves scored their first defense Td of the year and rose the score to 13:30.

The Wolverines D now stood like a bomb and was able to intercept their 3 pass of the game as Johannes Franzen (Qb/Cb) intercepted Eric Assman.

The highlight of the game was a reverse that HB/Wr Max Heinz carried into the endzone for 66 yards after receiving good blocking by the O-Line and the fullback.

Montabaur was able to score a final Td that set up the final result of 21:38 for the Wolverines.

"The misserable second quarter could be made up by 6 turnovers and a defense Touchdown. But the victory does not cover our weaknesses in the passing game" Headcoach van der Heyde said.?

Next Sunday the wolverines meet last years champion the Heiligenstein Crusaders.
