Sunday May the 3rd the Trier Wolverines faced the Neuwied Rockland Raiders in For the Wolverines it was the first ever game in team history and you can make the point that it was a fun game to watch. In an all-time close game the Wolverines were not able to use their opportunities to win and drawed the game at 14:14. The game for the Wolverines offense started as it would end: Not so good. The offense featuring headcoach Georg Hamelmann was able to run some nice plays but they were only able to score twice, even though they had some verry good field positions. HC Hamelmann who plays Rb was able to get some nice yards on the ground and scored the first ever Wolverines TD that gave the Wolverines a lead after the half. The rest of the time he and the other Rb's suffered from the sub-bar performance of the Offensive-Line. Offense-Coordinator Roacha: " Our Rb's had a tough time to get some yards. Especially over the outside we had no way to keep up with the Raiders line" Even though every off the 3 Rb's had their moments to shine. In the passing game Roacha gave both Qbs playing time but he had to admit that , Matthew Dwyer was better suited to play against the Blitzes due to his agility. Dwyer completed several long passes to Wr Williamnson .He scored the other TD while Wr Phillip Milde was not able to score but showed a nice performance. Once again the Wolverines Defense stood out. The reason for that is, that the Defense has much more experienced players than the offense (Orth,Schneider,Wiesner,Gördel,Guillem and the Us-Boys Williamson and Gross). The Defense allowed two Tds because of individual mistakes in the passing game. the Raiders Qb took credit of some bad plays of the Wolverines Cornerbacks. But the defense was able to contain the running game. Gegen den Run agierte man glücklicher, auch wenn man auch da einige dumme Fehler machte. A good job did DE Markus Gördel and ILB Phillip Schneider who were able to force a fumble and create a safety. "We should learn from our mistakes" Hc Hamelmann said" but what is more important is, that we now start to avoid such mistakes. Our primary target is not to succed in the league but to take every game into acount and get better and better and have fun every given game. If you think of the Wolverines seniors beeing founded in August of 08 this is a nice result and im proud to be the headcoach of this bunch." Taking everythin into account the Wolverines cant be happy with the outcome of the game. They had to many opportunities pass. Dwyer who also kicks the fieldgoals missed on a short one that would have won the game. But the team can be proud. Every game we learn more. Some of the players played their first ever league game and were excited. Upcomming Saturday it will be the key to the game to relax and play more concentrated. We say thanks to the Raiders who played a good and fair game and treated us nicely and we look forward to the upcomming games against
