For their 3. game this season the Trier Wolverines faced the Heiligenstein Crusaders, last years league champs.

But the first offensive series of the Crusaders showed that the Wolverines D had several weaknesses and a reverse play scored the first points.

The Wolverines offense was not able to react and was stopped by the good Crusaders defense.

Heiligenstein can be happy about some uncalled penalties and was able to use this advantage.

They were able to score through the air their upcoming drive.

At halftime the score was 14:0.

The Crusaders too showed some weak spots in the second half and it was RB Martin Karling who scored the first Wolverine TD but the conversion failed. The score now was 14:6.

A series of unlucky offense drives followed that were marked by fumbles and turnovers and kept the Wolverines from scoring.

The Crusaders were able to finish the game with a TD and the final score of 22:6.

„We are waiting for the rematch to come because we were able to keep up with them but were not able to show our strengths. Heiligenstein is a hard and unpleasant opponent we have to beat the next time" Coach van der Heyde said.
