On
the 8th youth-league matchday the Montabaur fighting
farmers visited Trier. Due to job-related reasons youth-headcoach
Jürgen van der Heyde could not be at the game this day and was
replaced by senior headcoach Georg Hamelmann. Again the
youth-section was able to whitewash the farmers by their constant
effort.
The
Quarterback Johannes Franzen also had to be replaced. Felix Wüst,
who proved his qualities as a QB before, took his position and showed
confident appearance. Out of a good starting position the
Runningbacks Karling and Hurm sprinted towards the Farmers' endzone
and Karling scored the first points. The following
Two-Point-Conversion realized by Lukas Hurm heightened the score to
8:0.
Now
the Wolverines Defense could prove their ability, like in the last
games when they were able to make a lot of turnovers. The Defense was
pushed back to their own endzone by a lot of hard tackles, which
caused yard-loss on the part of the farmers. Because of this the
Farmers-Offense had to start their third try at their own 5 Yard-Line
and due to coordination problems Farmers QB Assmann was put under
pressure and was floored in his own endzone by a sack by MLB Bätz
and DE Radica. This safety brought 2 points and changed the score to
10:0 and the Wolverines gained back their right of attacking.
Runningback
Adam applied quickness and agility and “danced” through the
Farmers Defense to score the 2nd touchdown of the game.
The following TPC was not successful, so the score maintained 16:0.
One
could tell, that the Farmers wanted to win, but the Wolverines
Defense simply was too strong. An Interception by Cornerback
Christian Lohmer brought back the right of attacking and gave a
chance of scoring to the Offense.
This
chance was instantly seized. RB Karling completed the drive with his
2nd touchdown and the Wolverines leaded with 24:0 after a
successful TPC.
The
farmers Offense had to confront the Wolverines Defense, who scored
not only with the achieved Safety. Linebacker Max Hurm intercepted a
pass by Farmers QB Assmann and took it back to the farmers endzone
over 30 yards, which increased the score to 30:0. After the
following, successful TPC the score was 32:0.
The
farmers, willing to fight, lost their right of attacking again by a
failed Snap by the Center and the following Fumble Recover by
Defense-Lineman Martin Charles.
Also
the last drive of the Wolverines Offense that day should not end
without scoring. Tightend Timo Bätz made his first touchdown for
this season and with the following TPC the score was heightened to
40:0.
The
game was shortened by the referee with a so-called “mercy-rule”,
because the farmers only arrived with 18 team members and 2 of them
harmed theirselves during the match.
The
effort of the Farmers according to these conditions is to be seen as
brilliant and is respect-worthy.
Upcoming
sunday, july 5th 2009 , the Wolverines youth-section will
for the first time welcome the local rival Trier Stampers
youth-section in their home stadium in Trier-Tarforst. We are looking
forward to an exciting game.
Kick-off,
as always, 12 pm .
